Writing

Non-Fiction
I write about literature, education and culture and my work has been published in a range of national publications, including the Guardian. To see my Guardian profile, please click here. Some of the topics I have written about for publication include: gardens in literature, the work of Elizabeth Bowen, the work of Antonia White, women writing during WW2, female madness in literature, the life of Helena Rubinstein, positive behaviour management in schools and aspiration in the learning environment. If you would like to commission me to write something for your publication, please email me at annabelwynne@gmail.com

Academic/Research interests
My main interests lie in English literature produced during the first half of the 20th century, including Modernism. I have a particular interest in the Anglo-Irish writer, Elizabeth Bowen and on 5th May 2011 I presented a paper on Bowen and Virginia Woolf at the Bloomsbury Adaptations conference held at Bath Spa University. My paper was entitled, ‘”…she is what happened after Bloomsbury,” Elizabeth Bowen and the ghost of Woolf,’ and I was flattered by its reception.

I am especially interested in the relationship between interior and exterior space and places in the 20th century novel and what happens on the ‘edges’ of words.

I have a secondary interest in 18th century literature, particularly the significance of the vampire character, as well as the epistolary novel, especially Samuel Richardson’s Clarissa.

Fiction
As well as my non-fiction and academic writing, I also write literary fiction. I have written numerous short stories and am currently working on my first novel.
